Growthhack: co-marketing example

May 19, 2018 by Wim GE De Vos 1 Comment

As a small business we at Genesis Technologies and ICE cinema use co-marketing to create leverage and continue our growth.

Important: co-marketing needs win-win for both parties to be effective. Tagging along is not an option.

So what did we achieve in last weeks event with Valderrama Luxury Gardens, Maserati and Steinway & Sons?

  • Create exposure to new (type of) clients
  • Reinforce all our brands as a ying & yang of technology & design
  • Offer our existing clients new experiences that make them go Wow.
  • Learn from peers as we closely work together

Used well co-marketing allows your small business to punch above its weight. To maximise impact.

So I ask you: what are your thoughts on co-marketing as a small business?

Growthhack: make your customers rich

Genesis Technologies freemium model
Genesis Technologies freemium model
at your service

Today I received an interesting message from my friend and innovation visionary Sunam Sat. He told me that the following statement describes Genesis Technologies business model well.

Whereas the conventional business models focusses on taking as much money as possible from clients, I see Genesis Technologies differs radically as you want to make your customers rich.

True statement. It describes Genesis Technologies freemium model.

Genesis technologies is continuously learning and giving back. We collect, process and repackage insights and knowledge we get from the market. To then offer these back to our partner free but with added value. We operate as a knowledge sharing platform. This is and will always be free. We intend to give back what we receive. The gift and the counter-gift. Classic Marcel Mauss.

Our revenue model is completely based on the products and services we sell. This while knowledge and experience sharing will remain free. This is how we are wired. This is who we are.

We offer installation partners, architects, builders, interior designers and end-clients:

  • free access to a WOW-experience in our VIPlounges
  • free training (product, system, business)
  • free advice on best practices in creating smarthomes, private cinemas, …

And as we make our clients richer 💵 and stronger 💪🏻 we ourselves will also prosper.*

As a small business making a BIG impact it is how we have built our tribe.

How do you approach your customers?
Let me know as continuous learning is the key to growth.

*Richer does not necessarily imply monetary terms. Often by sharing insights or an experience we offer value to our partners for free.

The power of context

May 17, 2018 by Wim GE De Vos 1 Comment

The key to getting people to change their behaviour sometimes lies with the smallest details of their immediate situation. The Power of Context says that human beings are a lot more sensitive to their environment than they may seem. It also says that small changes can have a big impact. Just like a business…

Studies on juvenile delinquency and drop-outs have proven that a child is better of in a good neighbourhood and a troubled family compared to a bad neighbourhood and a good family. This is another example of the power of context.

Pretty powerful and counter-intuitive to many of us. In ways we do not necessarily appreciate, our inner states are the result fo our outer circumstances.

We are powerfully shaped by our external environment. And features of our immediate social and physical world – the streets we walk down, the people we encounter – play a huge role in shaping who we are and how we act.

Now I ask you.

How do you use the Power of Context to shape behaviour of your team, clients and partners?

Start with the end in mind 🏁

May 16, 2018 by Wim GE De Vos Leave a Comment

Start with the end in mind.
Start with the end in mind.
Visualising where to go.
Visualising where to go.

“If your ladder is not leaning against the right wall, then every step gets you to the wrong place faster.”

Seems obvious, but what are we doing about it?

Start with who you want to be, what you want to achieve, where you want to end up. Not just in life, but every year, month, week and even every day. Even for a single meeting or negotiation.

Start with the end in mind. And then work your way back to the start. This is how objectives are achieved. How dreams  become reality.

It helps to keep your eyes 👀 on the ball 🎱. To keep perspective. To be focussed.

Reserve a few minutes every day to reflect. To visualise things. Because everything is created twice. A mental version (first) and a physical version (second).

So start with the end in mind. 🏁 And stay on track.

81% of small businesses fail because of cash flow problems. EIGHTY ONE PERCENT (just to be clear).

So what mechanisms are you building to avoid the cash flow trap?
