Luxury home tech is on the rise…🚀

This is one of the largest growth markets since smartphones or electric cars.

Integrating technology into the home is a fundamental design principle for professionals involved in luxury home design , build and refurbishment.

Leading architects and building experts are predicting that the next few years will see technology at the heart of every luxury home, and they are full of praise for homeowners who are ahead of the game.

Small innovative companies are leading in a growth market that combines technology, design and personal service. We are playing at a level that the moguls will never be able to.

Our time is now.

Let´s make WOW the standard, together. 🙏🏻

A 100M€ group of smarthome companies across Europe?

September 11, 2019 by Wim GE De Vos Leave a Comment

Bravas_smarthome.png

Interesting case of growthhacking.

Bravas: 15 independent smart home design-build firms across the United States create a national footprint and will focus on professional integration “of electronic lifestyle technologies into custom-built intelligent spaces.”

“Bravas, intelligent spaces” just landed a 75 million$ investment from a venture capital fund.

If states in the US can be compared in many ways to EU countries  when it comes to market size, demographics, clients look for “local” smarthome companies,…
The question to ask ourselves is then:

Is there space for a Europe-wide unified group of smarthome companies ? Valued at say 100m€…

20 established profitable integrators across Europe (10 capitals + 10 key cities)
1 single client segment = luxury home owner
1 single brand
Gradually grow closer (no sudden merge – rather share/learn/adopt over time)
– adopt best practices in business
– same SW solutions
– same design principles
– same products/brands
Each valued at 1 year turnover (or profit multiple) at a point in the future

Bravas CEO Ryan Anderson says succinctly that the partners “are stronger together.”

If they stay focussed I believe he is right. Why compete over 5% when 95% of the market potential is wide open if approached in the right way?

About sales people…

Quotefancy-97010-3840x2160.jpg

Be an industry expert 🧪, not a product seller 📦
Salespeople get sent to voicemail. Sales meetings get rescheduled.

But strategists and experts get their calls answered every time, and their phones are ringing off the hook with questions and inquiries about their expertise.

No one likes to be sold to. But everyone needs a solution. 🧮

If you’re a problem solver in your industry, you’re going to get more than your prospects who take your calls. You’re going to get people who can’t stop calling you because you have the solutions they need.

Small decisions with a BIG impact 💥.

Culture eats strategy for breakfast…

March 28, 2019 by Wim GE De Vos 1 Comment

Here are 2 definitions of the kind of culture that creates momentum for any business.

The first one is that “culture is what happens when the boss leaves the room“. The second definition is “the way we get things done around here“.

It is all about the People. The attitude of those working for the company. The most important thing about culture is that it’s the only sustainable point of difference for any organisation.

Anyone can copy your strategy, but nobody can copy your culture.

But people need to know where they are going and how they are going to contribute to that success. If there’s no vision and no sense of direction, then you have no chance of getting aligned on a culture. It is the vision holds it all together.

Culture = What you Do + Who you Want to Be.

For us culture is our super-power 💪🏻…

… and for the last 10 years we have been getting a bit stronger every day.

Want to know more about our culture?
Check it out here. (made & best seen in full screen for Apple Keynote)

( also available in MS PowerPoint: Genesis Home Technology Architects – culture – powerpoint)

And like always feedback is very welcomed 🙏🏻 because that is how we get better.

Kintsugi 🏺 – the art of being uniquely flawed

September 27, 2018 by Wim GE De Vos Leave a Comment

Kintsugi is a powerful concept. For all of us and our businesses.

Wikipedia: Kintsugi (“golden joinery”),  (“golden repair”), is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with gold.

As a philosophy, it treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise.

It embraces the imperfect. It values the use and wear of an object over time.

Question ❓What if we apply it to businesses or ourselves?

…re-define Failure…think pivot and learning

…Context matters…broken (to be repaired) vs trash (end of life)

…Our mistakes and history can result in “golden scars” or joints that shine ✨

and…an imperfect reality can be more valuable than a perfect dream…

live fear-less and stop worrying about others´ ideas of perfection.

Small scars with a big impact 💥….
